FROM ROME TO BROOKLYN
Francesco Panella is an Italian restauranteur, entrepreneur and television personality.
Raised in Rome, Italy his love of food started at an early age from growing up in his family owned restaurant, Antica Pesa. After studying marketing and communications he began to work in his family restaurant, and became the 4th generation owner. As a lover of food himself, he began to venture into television to share his passion. In 2011 he starred in his first show Mio Piatto Preferito on Gambero Rosso to share and recreate the favorite dishes of celebrities and chefs, which ran for three popular seasons. In 2012 Francesco and his brothers embarked on a new journey to open his restaurant in New York. Initially it was difficult to decide on a neighborhood which fit for Antica Pesa, but upon his first visit to Williamsburg, Francesco decided to move his restaurant to Brooklyn. Upon moving to Brooklyn, he quickly fell in love with the culinary culture of Brooklyn and all boroughs of New York, and wanted to share his experiences with others, thus Brooklyn Man was born.
Brooklyn Man premiered on Gambero Rosso in 2013, and is currently in its 6th season. Brooklyn Man gathered affection from viewers who enjoy watching the interesting culinary adventures of New York through Francesco's eyes, and quickly became one of the most viewed shows on the network. In 2014 Francesco published a best selling guide book of New York, published by Newton Compton Editore.
Francesco continues his culinary adventures through his restaurants in Rome, Brooklyn and Shanghai and his new television show on Discovery Channel that aired in 2017, Little Big Italy. Francesco continues to look forward to sharing these international culinary experiences with others, through each of these outlets.
